Household tips and tricks

Updated: Aug 15, 2022

We all need to save money anywhere we can these days. So, I thought I'd share some of my favorite tips and tricks for the household!

~Distilled white vinegar~

Dilute it 50/50 with water, put in a spray bottle, and it disinfects surfaces safely around food and family. Try cleaning glass as well.

Just don't use it on wood floors and granite or marble countertops because the acid could etch the stone. Get a big jug of it, it's very inexpensive!

~Dryer sheets~

Put a few sheets in your pockets for mosquito repellent.

~Ice cubes~

if you feel a cold sore coming on, put an ice cube in a plastic sandwich bag, place it on

the affected area, off and on so you don't get frost bitten, and when the ice cube melts,

wait about 20 minutes and do it again. The cold will kill the cold sore and it won't form!

Cold works well for itchy allergy eyes too! Press the back of a frozen spoon to your eyes for quick relief!

~Flour~

If you accidentally get oil or grease on your clothing while cooking or eating, try this.

Sprinkle flour on the spot, allow to absorb the oil (I usually wait a full day), shake the

excess off and wash as normal.

~Garbage disposal cleaning~

If your disposal is smelling funky, drop half of a lemon down your disposal and turn it on! Instantly refreshed!
